70 Liebherrs for new tower crane fleet

German crane rental company Hüffermann Krandienst has ordered 70 new Liebherr cranes in order to set up a new tower crane rental division.

The order is made up of a number of self-erectors models, including its four tonne L1-32 with its 30 metre jib and 1,050kg jib tip capacity, and an assortment of K series cranes with capacities ranging from four to eight tonnes, and jibs to 55 metres. The company has also ordered a number top slewers, topped by the 12 tonne 370 EC-B 12 Fibre flat top, which features a 78 metre jib and 2,800kg jib tip capacity. The crane will also be the first fibre rope crane in the Hüffermann fleet.

The first units were handed over during a recent meeting at Liebherr’s tower crane production facility in Biberach, Germany. As well as reviewing delivery schedules etc... Liebherr has agreed to provide training for Hüffermann’s key customers for the new cranes.

Hüffermann managing director Daniel Janssen said: “We have always been more than satisfied and already know that we’ll be upping the order to 250 cranes."

Wildeshausen based Hüffermann was established in 1913 and runs a fleet of 160 mobile and crawler cranes with capacities up to 1,000 tonnes. It also operates a fleet of truck mounted platforms, scissor lifts and boom lifts, as well as a fleet of heavy transport and haulage vehicles. The company is currently undergoing a major expansion phase, having acquired Eisele in May and in the same month purchased 20 new Liebherr All Terrain and Crawler cranes topped by a 1,000 tonne LR11000 - see: 20 new Liebherrs for Hüffermann.
