First lifts for Levels Above

Two years ago, Russell Anderson and Neil Blakemore gave up their jobs with the UK rental company Lifterz, where they had worked for nine years, in order to set up on their own company.

“It was an easy decision” they said, "as the owners of the company we worked for and were particularly close to, had decided to sell to a national hire company, Speedy." See: Speedy acquires Lifterz The two called their company Levels Above Site Services. They initially took a very conservative approach and decided to run the new operation as a rental brokerage, working with a number of trusted suppliers. In the 18 months or so since they got started, they have built Levels Above into a respected and successful rental operation in its own right. Having established the brand and built a solid customer base they decided that the time was right to start investing in their own equipment.

Neil Blakemore said: “We decided to go with Genie because it is a proven brand with fantastic market acceptance. The new E-Drive system is something that we wanted to adopt early on and are very much looking forward to offering this to our customers. When you are starting out in business, you want to give yourself as little to worry about as possible. With the reliability of Genie, coupled with fantastic residual values and the support offered by Workplatform, we can spend more time concentrating on running the business.”

Russell Anderson added: “To say the new venture has exceeded expectations is an understatement. The customers have remained loyal and the handpicked team that we have assembled has been the real driving force behind our success. That and the list of key suppliers that we will continue to work with in the future.”

Jonathan Hull of Workplatform said: “It’s always nice to supply a new company with their first package of machines and we are sure that Levels Above will continue to go from strength to strength.”
