JLG announces promotions

JLG has announced a number of what it calls “leadership changes”,
Charlie Szews, president of JLG and chief financial officer for Oshkosh Truck announced today that Wayne Lawson, Mike Rafi, Joe Dixon and Kirsten Skyba have all been given expanded management roles within JLG.

“I am pleased with the focus, commitment and flexibility exhibited by the JLG team, and the outstanding performance of Wayne, Mike, Joe and Kirsten during the period of integration between JLG and Oshkosh,” said Szews.

“Each of these individuals continues to demonstrate their strong leadership capabilities, and their ongoing contribution to the strategic growth of the organization.”

Wayne Lawson (54), vice president of sales and customer support for Europe, Africa and the Middle East will have the added responsibility for the major accounts and used equipment sales teams in Europe.

Mike Rafi (38) has been promoted to the position of vice president and general manager for the Caterpillar Alliance Group.

Joe Dixon (49) is promoted to vice president and general manager of ServicePlus. With responsibility for operations in Houston, Atlanta, McConnellsburg and Tonneins France.

Kirsten Skyba (38), who has played a significant integration role at JLG alongside Szews, becomes vice president of global marketing for JLG. Skyba, an officer of Oshkosh Corp, was previously vice president of marketing communications for Oshkosh Truck at the corporate level, she retains her position as a corporate officer.

In a separate announcement Bob Bohn, CEO of Oshkosh announced that Charlie Szews, its CFO and transitional president of JLG has been elected to the company’s board of directors.

At the same time Timothy J. Roemer president of the Center for National Policy and fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University - a non-profit research and educational institution dedicated to improving public policy outcomes, was elected as a non executive director.

Roemer has also served as a 9/11 Commission member and was a Member of Congress for Indiana.

These 'changes' clearly reward those individuals that have played a signifiant and probably positive role in the almost six month transition since the Oshkosh bid was secured.

However it still leaves the big question open, who will be appointed as president of JLG? We were told at Bauma that the new president will be appointed in May and that it will not be an outsider.

Speculation is rife within the company that Craig Paylor, the front runner, will now get the job. The announcements above might simply be the forerunner to an imminent announcement, perhaps even as soon as this evening?

Oshkosh is though remaining tight lipped, with just over two weeks to go before the end of the month, watch this space.
