Kito Crosby promotes Hird

Crane rigging and accessory group Kito Crosby has promoted Peter Hird to commercial & business development lead for its Technology Solutions Division, which includes Crosby Straightpoint and Crosby BlokCam products.

Hird set up BlokCam along with Ben Windass in 2015, with Crosby acquiring the business in 2021. Hird was retained as business development manager for the BlokCam business. And will now add further product responsibilities to his remit, with responsibility for shaping commercial strategies, driving business development initiatives, and expanding the market presence for the Straightpoint and BlokCam products.

Hird began his crane and access related career in 1984 with the family crane and access rental business set up by his father, Peter Hird senior, in Hull, UK. He took over from his father as managing director in 2004 and in 2008 set up Compact Lifting Equipment, adding different crane brands, to its product line while targeting the Middle East market.

The BlokCam products include a number of wireless camera and alert systems that can be installed on the boom or hook block of mobile, crawler and tower cranes. Branded as Crosby BlokCam, the company is now joining Crosby's new technology solutions division along with recently acquired Straightpoint and Verton.

Kito Crosby only came into being in October a year or so after Crosby acquired the Kito business. The merged business manufactures and distributes products and services aimed at making lifting, rigging, transporting, and securing operations safer and more efficient.
