Specialist trailer manufacturer Faymonville will open its first American manufacturing facility in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The company plans to invest more than €92 million in the 55 acre site, which provides easy access to interstate highways, railway lines, waterways and airport.
During phase one of the project, the plant will be built to cover 38,000 square metres, while phase two will extend that to 58,000 square metres. The company claims that the facility will create 500 jobs as well as 389 indirect jobs in Little Rock and surrounding areas with an economic impact of €221 million.
A team in Luxembourg is currently developing new products tailored for the US market. In the initial phase, individual components will be manufactured in Little Rock, with plans for local production already in progress. The facility will also add to the regional spare parts and service support for Cometto branded trailers.
Chief executive Alexander Fickers said: “We not only supply special vehicles, but also offer comprehensive transport solutions. We are proud to have our first vehicle delivered to the United States in 2016. What we particularly appreciate about the US market is its enormous potential, its practical, solution-oriented way of thinking and the much easier management compared to Europe.”
With its three brands - Faymonville, Max Trailer and Cometto - Faymonville claims to be the world's leading full-service provider of heavy duty and specialised transport solutions, with payloads ranging from 15 to 25,000 tonnes.
Faymonville is a family business owned and managed by the seventh generation with 1,400 employees at four locations in Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland and Italy producing around 3,000 units to 125 countries with annual revenues last year of €442 million.
