German diesel engine manufacturer Hatz has appointed Robert Hapfelmeier as chief financial officer succeeding Markus Herber. In his new role, he will be responsible for finance, human resources, legal and IT.

Hapfelmeier joins the company following a four year period with Project Activity handling interim management roles, where he worked with various companies including those in the automotive and lighting industries. He began his career in 2001 as an investment consultant for LHI Leasing, before moving to automotive powertrain manufacturer SGF in 2009 where he progressed from assistant, through commercial management to president and chief financial officer by 2019.
Hatz chief executive Simon Thierfelder said: “First and foremost, we chose Robert Hapfelmeier because of his personality and competence, and we are happy that we won him for ourselves.”
Hapfelmeier added: “I am taking on the new task because I am enthusiastic about Hatz and the performance of the employees. I would like to thank the shareholders, the advisory board and Dr. Thierfelder for the trust they have placed in me.”
