300t electric crawler

Liebherr will extend its 'unplugged' crawler crane range with the 300 tonne battery powered LR 1300.2 SX at Bauma in April.

The new crane features a 438 kW electric motor and a 392 kWh battery pack, providing up to 13 hours of operation without mains power. Liebherr says that complete battery charging takes between 4.5 and 8.5 hours depending on the available power supply, with the crane remaining fully operational during charging.

Most of the performance and lifting capabilities remain the same as its diesel counterpart, but the new model includes seven different boom configurations with a maximum main boom of 110 metres, and a maxium system length of 196 metres - 83 metre boom plus 113 metre luffing jib . The model displayed at Bauma will have a 20 metre main boom - the shortest possible - topped by a 20 metre jib. The crane's lifting capacities can be enhanced with a 30 metre derrick boom and 120 tonnes of suspended counterweight.

The new model's safety features include a ground pressure display system with wider track pads that can decrease ground pressure by up to 56 percent. A gradient travel aid system assists with slope monitoring, while a special operating mode has also been developed for working while afloat on barges of the like. Additional safety systems include a boom up/down assistant for safer boom deployment and the vertical line finder system to prevent side pulls on the boom.

The crane's control system provides real time information about permissible and actual gradients, along with the crane's overall centre of gravity. For floating operations, the system includes load curves for off level angles of zero to three degrees - with corresponding load moment protection.

The manufacturer's Crane Planner 2.0 lift planning software can be used to determine and simulate optimal boom combinations for specific project requirements.
