Empire Boom partnership

US owned renewable energy specialist Empire Energy Offshore, has formed a strategic alliance with Australian crane rental and heavy lift and moving company Boom Logistics.

The two companies say that they are joining forces to support the research, development, deployment, and long term viability of offshore and onshore wind projects in what is a rapidly evolving market.
Boom Logistics will provide local knowledge and lifting experience

Essentially Boom logistics will provide expertise in crane operations, transport management with local knowledge on such things as local laws and regulations, and engineering, while Empire Energy will provide industry knowledge and expertise in onshore and offshore project development and management, along with project execution from planning through to completion.
While Empire Energy will contribute offshore knowledge and experience

Empire Energy president Mike Milledge said: “This strategic alliance marks a significant milestone in our efforts to expand Australia’s offshore wind capabilities. By leveraging Boom Logistics’ industry leading lifting and transport solutions, we are strengthening the supply chain and creating a more resilient infrastructure for the country’s renewable energy future.”

Boom Logistics chief executive Ben Pieyre added: “Collaborating with Empire Energy presents a tremendous opportunity to showcase our expertise in large scale logistics and lifting solutions. Together, we aim to support offshore wind projects with best in class services that drive efficiency, safety, and innovation.”

Based in New York, Empire Energy Offshore already has a well established partnership with Sarens, covering its projects in Europe, Asia, and the US.

Vertikal Comment

The joint announcement was hard to get to the bottom of with lots of jargon laden Mother Earth and Apple Pie speak, but it seems to boil down to the two companies teaming up to exploit and promote the rapidly emerging Australian offshore wind and sustainable energy market. The idea is good, providing Boom Logistics with a high value new customer and partner, while Empire gains, not only a solid lifting and logistics partner, but also highly valuable local knowledge.

All in all, it looks like a positive move – although Sarens may not be quite so positive.
