HSC crawler for Bethell

UK civil engineering company Bethell has taken delivery of an 80 tonne Hitachi-Sumitomo SCX800A-3 crawler crane from UK distributor NRC Plant.
The new 80 tonner

The SCX800A-3 can be rigged with up to 54.5 metres of main boom and features a nine to 18 metre jib with a maximum system length of 63.5 metres, made up of a 45.5 metre boom and an 18 metre jib. It can lift its maximum 80 tonnes capacity to a radius of 3.3 metres. Overall weight is 76 tonnes.

The crane has a retracted overall transport width of 3.2 metres, which increases to 4.83 metres with tracks extended. As well as complying with the EU stage IV emissions regulations, it also features an auto-idle stop function and an ECO winch which provides higher hoist speeds with lighter loads whilst minimising fuel consumption.

Bethell Construction was established in 1865 by Charles Bethell in Manchester, England, to meet the growing infrastructure demands of the rapidly expanding city.
Some of Bethell's early equipment

Today the company remains family owned and is based in Kearsley, on the northwest side of Manchester towards Bolton. It has revenues of £76 million with a healthy pre-tax profit of £4.2 million. It already owns some of the specialised equipment that it uses regularly including telescopic crawler cranes and now this lattice model.
