Norway's first Grove GMK5150XL

Norwegian heavy haulage and rental company Royal Transport has taken delivery of Norway's first 150 tonne Grove GMK5150XL All Terrain crane from distributor ANK Cranes.

The five axle GMK5150XL has a 68.7 metre six section main boom topped by an 9.6 to 16.2 metre bi-fold hydraulic luffing swingaway extension, which offsets up to 40 degrees and can be extended to 24.2 metres with an optional eight metre insert for a maximum tip height of 99 metres. The company has also taken the auxilliary winch option and trailing dolly
The crane can travel with up 10.2 tonnes of its 44.5 tonne counterweight within a 12 tonne axle loads. The new crane includes Grove's latest telematics system to provide real time diagnostics and remote support.

Royal Transport is based in Staume, west of Bergen and was founded in 1987 by Ståle Dyngeland to carry out local distribution and transport with lift trucks and loader cranes. Then in 1989 it began working on offshore related transport and haulage and in 1993 it was decided that the company would focus on special transport, with mobile cranes added more recently.

It it moved into its current premises in Straume Næringspark- in 2009 where it has a large warehouses on a nine acre site, ait also has a location in Rådal on the south side of Bergen for project related work.
