First Dutch Liebherr LTR 1150

Dutch rental company Gebri Handel & Verhuur has completed the construction of a seven storey 48 apartment residential complex in Alphen aan den Rijn, East of Leiden, using a new 150 tonne Liebherr LTR 1150 telescopic crawler crane – the first to arrive in the Netherlands.
The LTR has a 52 metre boom

The new crane features a six section 52 metre main boom topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold lattice swingaway extension which can be further extended with two seven metre lattice extensions for a maximum tip height of 88 metres. The crane can be transported with tracks fitted on a low loader with a maximum transport width of 3.5 metres.

The new crane was used on the 25 metre building on a restricted plot of under 800 square metres between existing developments, a narrow road and harbour basin.

The crane initially completed the building from the inner courtyard outwards, then finished the complex from the roadside with pre-fabricated elements weighing 13 tonnes lifted at a radius of about 18 metres.

Crane operator Maichel van Vliet from construction firm Meijmat said: "The limited space meant that the use of a tower crane was not an option here. When it came to lifting pre-fabricated elements, the LTR 1150 was simply the ideal tool."

"Each day, we're able to complete an entire storey for each section of the construction. In the morning, we position the walls, then everything goes up on the hook: from the bathrooms to the floors. And towards the evening, we place the ceiling panels on the wall elements. 100 lifts a day are no problem with this crane."

Gebri Handel & Verhuur was founded in 2018 by Gerhan van de Brink and father Henk, operating 50 crane vehicles from Barneveld including 15 telescopic crawler cranes. The company operates in the Netherlands and Belgium.
