Klubb group to restructure

French vehicle mounted lift manufacturer Klubb group filed a judicial rehabilitation request (redressement judiciaire) yesterday with the specialist Commercial Court of Bobigny.

The process is intended to allow a formal financial restructuring process, which typically lasts from 12 to 18 months. It is not dissimilar to Chapter 11 in the USA and to a lesser extent, administration in the UK.

The court ordered the opening of redressement judiciaire proceedings, limited to the following four entities: Klubb Group and its subsidiaries Klubb France, Klubb sarl and Klubb Engineering. The other businesses in the wider group are not affected or part of the proceedings.

During the Redressement period, the company is required to hold discussions and reach practical agreements with its creditors and financial partners, which are also “aligned with the interests of the group companies cited, their employees and others involved with the business".

The company said: “This process is intended to facilitate discussions to implement a restructuring of the group’s liabilities and sustainably strengthen its financial structure. It comes at a pivotal stage in Klubb’s development, as the company is currently benefiting from an unprecedented order backlog and strong commercial momentum, both in France and internationally. However, following several years of inflation, shifting demand patterns, and significant tensions across industrial supply chains, reorganisation measures - already underway and continuing - have proved necessary to support its growth.”

“The group’s operations are continuing as normal, and Klubb remains fully mobilised alongside its commercial partners, intending to continue to honour all of its clients’ orders.”

"Management is approaching this phase with confidence and determination. Its objectives at this stage are clear: preserving jobs, strengthening the group’s competitiveness through an ongoing performance improvement plan, and creating the conditions for sustainable long-term development.”

Klubb Group employs 650 across four plants in France, one in Italy and one in the UK, directly and through its subsidiaries and works with a network of 48 distributors.

In addition to the four companies involved in the process, the wider group includes Titan Aero Group and its subsidiaries, Mobitec, Delta Services, Nacelle Assistance et Services, Cumberland Platforms UK, Mondia Wallonie in Belgium, Hematec in Germany, Klubb Iberica in Spain, Isoli in Italy and Klubb Latam in South America.

Vertikal Comment

There are further meetings today, we understand, and we will wait to hear further information before commenting. But from experience, these proceedings, which, as we have said, are closer to Chapter 11 than others, with the management continuing to manage the business without day-to-day outside interference, tend to succeed in one way or another and are infinitely more successful than insolvency processes in other countries, such as the UK.
