Leadership change at Wolffkran

German tower crane manufacturer and rental group Wolffkran has reappointed Peter Schiefer as group chief executive.

The changeover comes into effect next Wednesday, April 1st, when the current chief executive, Duncan Salt, who has served in the role since 2019, will become regional chief executive for the Middle East & Asia Pacific regions. He will also retain his seat on the main board.

The move is apparently intended to “align the organisation with its strategy of international expansion,” while freeing up Duncan Salt to “focus on targeted development in our emerging markets.”

Peter Schiefer said: “We are convinced that this is the right step to position our leadership for the future. With Duncan Salt, we are placing an industry expert in a role where his expertise will have the greatest impact. Together, we successfully entered the Saudi market, and we will continue along this path of growth. The board of directors sincerely thanks Duncan for his leadership and valuable contributions and is pleased that the company will continue to benefit from his experience and support.”

“He has already proven to be the right person for this role through the successful development of the US and French markets. In 2024, the US accounted for roughly a quarter of Wolffkran’s total revenue, and the rental fleet in France continued to grow steadily.”

Duncan Salt added: “I am excited to focus even more on the group’s growth markets and establish Wolffkran's global presence in areas of strong construction activity.”

Salt joined Wolffkran when it acquired HTC in 2015. He was director and general manager of that business, a role he had held since 2012. Once the acquisition was completed, Duncan Salt was promoted to head of international sales for the group, before moving into his current position in 2019.
Schiefer headed a Swiss/German private investment group which acquired Wolffkran from MAN at the start of 2005, and shortly thereafter took over as chief executive, handing over the reins to Salt in 2019.
