The five axle crane can take its eight tonne maximum capacity to a radius of 12 metres and a hook height of 36 metres. With the jib in ‘trolley’ mode, the crane has a jib tip capacity of 1,900kg at 58.5 metres radius and a hook height of just under 40 metres. It can also be used in luffing mode with a range from 20 to 70 degrees to achieve a maximum hook height of 94.4 metres or a maximum radius of 65 metres with a 1,000kg on the hook. The new crane will be used primarily for work in inner cities, with its first lifting job already completed in Düsseldorf city centre.
The crane on its first job in Düsseldorf
Oliver Kuldtzun, head of Hess' crane division said: “The MK is our first mobile tower crane. We have been thinking about it for two years, but didn't have the right staff. At the end of last year, we were lucky enough to find the right operator for it, and it was clear to us that now was the time to take the ‘MK’ step.”

Hess is based in Düsseldorf, western Germany, and runs a fleet of knuckle boom cranes, lorry loaders, forklifts, pick & carry cranes including Valla and Hoist, as well as various aerial work platforms.
