Terex climbs to 348m in Canada

For the past four years, a 20 tonne Terex CTT 472-20t flat top tower crane has been helping to build the 110 storey skytower development in Toronto, Canada, climbing to a final height of 348 metres on the waterfront Pinnacle One Yonge development.

Canadian contractor Premform has configured the crane with a 55 metre jib and a jib tip capacity of 6.24 tonnes. Equipped with a 80kwh hoist, it can lift at speeds of up to 196 metres a minute. The company utilised an anchoring system made up of 16 internal ties, Cropac Equipment, Terex dealer for Eastern Canada, says the crane was also supplied with additional mast sections, tie-collars and climbing components.

Cropac sales representative Joel Hunt, said: “We are proud to have partnered with Premform, contractor of the project, from the earliest stages of the development by providing a lifting solution capable of supporting the project’s ambitious schedule and height requirements.”

“Development of this scale requires lifting capacity, great tower versatility, and the ability of adapting to evolving site conditions, while maintaining high performance throughout every phase of construction.”

When complete, the SkyTower will include residential, hospitality and commercial space.
