UK rental company Ashbrook has placed an £18 million order for 270 JCB telehandlers, excavators and Dumpers.
The order, supplied through local dealer Gunn JCB, is the second mega order Ashbrook has placed with JCB following on from a £10 million order in 2020.
Some of the new units arrive at the Ashbrook depot in Congleton Ashbrook managing director, James Ashbrook said: “We are extremely proud of how our family company has grown over the past 28 years, we are now hiring out a wide range of JCB machines including dumpers, telescopic handlers, excavators, rollers and powered access. We bought our first JCBs in 2013 and have been increasing the size of our JCB fleet ever since.”
Steve Fox, of JCB added: “We are extremely proud of the continued growth of our partnership with Ashbrook. The scale of this order, and the fact the company is expanding its range of JCB machines, speaks volumes.”

Based in Congleton, Cheshire – between Manchester and Stoke on Trent, with a depot in Warrington - between Manchester and Liverpool. The Ashbrook family can trace its roots in the area back to 1752 and dairy farmer Joseph Ashbrook, with every generation since having farmed land in the area. The rental business was established in 1998 by current managing director James Ashbrook after he borrowed a tractor from his father to start a farm contracting business. In 2001 he was able to purchase the company’s first tractor for the business, a New Holland TM135.
From then on, the growth began has gathered pace, with the first excavator added to the fleet in 2002, then in 2015 new more specialised delivery trucks allowed a wider range of equipment to be added. In 2016 it acquired two ex-Hewden Hire depots in Warrington and Bangor, selling the latter in 2021 to focus on the two main locations.

In 2017, it began adding telehandlers to the fleet, along with Skyjack scissor lifts and Genie booms. In 2020 it placed a £10 million order for JCB telehandlers, and having celebrated its 25th anniversary, the company decided to expand its aerial lift fleet, placing a substantial order with Genie in 2024, and now this deal with JCB.
