Genie has launched a new 6,800kg/13.6 metre North American telehandler, the GTH-1544.
The new model joins the company’s two other 13.6 metre lift height models, the 4.5 tonne GTH-1044 and 5.4 tonne GTH-1244. All three models can pick & carry their maximum capacity. Stabilisers/outriggers are optional, as is the enclosed cab.
The new GTH-1544 can take 4,500kg to its 13.6 metre maximum lift height, and 2,268kg at its maximum forward reach of 9.33 metres. The new model weighs 14,900kg, while the maximum road speed is 27.4kph,
Around 80 percent of the GTH-1544’s parts and components are the same as those used in its H 10k and 12k telehandlers, helping simplify maintenance and reduce parts inventory. As is usual when it comes to telehandlers top level, well known components are required, the new machine is no exception and is powered by a Deutz diesel driving a heavy duty ZF transmission and new, updated Dana axles. Standard tyres are foam filled Enduro A/Ts, with an increased transition from the tyre body to the lug, which reduces stress and failures, while extending tyre life.
The company says that its new model has been engineered for high capacity material handling at lower lift heights and is ideal for applications where heavy material needs to be transported efficiently across distances, rather than applications where reach is the primary requirement.
Genie’s product director for telehandlers Kyle Holdridge said: “The increasing demand for pick & carry material handling on projects, such as data centre construction, presents an opportunity for rental companies to meet jobsite needs with a machine that costs up to 15 percent less to own and maintain. The GTH-1544 is designed for moving heavy materials efficiently across the jobsite, not just placing them at maximum height. It’s about helping rental companies match the right machine to the job.”
