A first for Scotland

Scottish rental company Forsyth of Denny has taken delivery of the country’s first 300 tonne Liebherr LTM 1300-6.4 All Terrain crane as part of a four unit order.

The six axle LTM 1300-6.4 - updated in May 2024 - features an eight section, 90 metre main boom topped by an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, to which two seven metre inserts can be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a tip height of 121 metres. Other features include the Variobase Plus outrigger setup system, which offers a wider, more variable rear outrigger spread - up to 9.4 metres - as well as AutoBallast. This is the company’s second 300 tonne crane equipped with a 90 metre boom, and it will be used for tower crane erection and wind turbine maintenance.
The crane arrives in Scotland

Earlier this year, the company added a 60 tonne LTM 1060-3.1, with a second 1060-3.1 and a 110 tonne LTM 1110-5.2 set to arrive later this year to complete the four unit order.

Forsyth of Denny director, Mark Syme, said: “We are extremely delighted to take delivery of our new LTM 1300-6.4, which has already become a top performer in the fleet. Our LTM 1300-6.3, which was delivered in 2024, has been an incredible crane, so adding a second 90 metre main boom crane to the fleet made a lot of sense, especially with the drive for renewable projects which we are currently working on.”

Established in 1995, the company is based in Denny, Scotland. Forsyth of Denny has two further depots in Scotland - Irvine and Earlston - as well as a location in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland. The company currently runs a fleet of All Terrain and crawler cranes from 30 to 700 tonnes as well as a transport and haulage vehicles.
