Trailer for rails

Eurosupply the Dutch access specialist has developed a new 10 metre trailer mounted road/rail boom lift which is self propelled at height, for working on overhead power lines.

The lift, dubbed the Eurorailer, has been developed in cooperation with rail infrastructure and contractor Dura Vermeer, rental company Warmerdam Hoogwerksystemen and technical specialist Gebroeders Koerts-Techniek, using a Nifty HR10 superstrucure.

The Eurorailer is a trailer lift that is fully self propelled on rails

The starting-point was the problem with working on overhead power lines on railways, the use of the well known reform ladders for this task has been criticised for years, but with the advent of the work at height directive the use of such ladders is increasingly being excluded for this work.

The mobility of the existing machines, used for maintenance and repair of overhead power lines, is usually very poor being mostly modified excavators equipped with a work platform and railway wheels, the transport requires heavy low-loaders and is very costly.

On the road

With this feed back Eurosupply set out to develop an Ultra-light mobile work platform that could be easily towed by a service-van.

A big advantage has been the response time and the low intervention cost for emergency repair, inspection and maintenance of overhead power lines on the railways.

The new machine has already been used several times, Eurosupply says that initial feedback from the technicians using it has been very positive particularly stressing its easy handling and speed of set up.

The machine has been approved by HCC-DRS, the experts on rail-infrastructure equipment, and is the machine equipped with a licence plate for road transport.

The Eurorailer has an eight metre platform height, 120kgs lift platform capacity, 3.5 metres of outreach and weights just 1,500kgs all up. Options include items such as work lights and tooltrays.

The unit is powered by a Kubota diesel engine, and offers a track speed when stowed of 15kph falling to 3kph when elevated.
