ESTA announces 2008 awards

Award for lift involving cranes of 100 tonne and under

Winner - Mediaco of France for the installation of a tower crane in the old town centre of Draguignan in southern France. The installation required detailed studies and careful work with cranes, forklifts and trailers.

Award for lifts involving cranes of over 100 tonnes.

Winner - BMS of Denmark for the installation of a 193 tonne foot bridge in Copenhagen. The lift required extensive engineering, planning and preparation. Four cranes were involved in the lift. Other equipment included lifting beams, modular trailers and hydraulic lift towers.

Innovation Award 2008

Peinemann, the Rotterdam based crane and access company won the innovation award with its new bundle lifter which offers an alternative to web slings. The company is selling and renting the devices, which it launched at the end of May.

Excellence Award 2008

This years Excellence award went to Terex Demag's CC8800-1 Twin crawler crane. The first unit has been shipped to Al Jaber in preparation for its first lift.

Personality of the Year 2008

Leo Spierings, founder of Spierings Kranen, the Dutch manufacturer of truck-mounted self erecting tower cranes. For his passion for his unusual product which has taken sales away from large mobile telescopic cranes as well as creating a new product sector.
