Crane boom comes down in Snowmass

The boom of a lattice crane, reported to be a truck crane, but most likely a crawler, came crashing down on a hotel construction job in Snowmass, near Aspen, Colorado.

The crane - truck or track?


The crane was lifting a five tonne container of roofing tar for the roof of the Viceroy hotel when, according to an initial inspection, something, most likely a cable, failed on the crane causing the boom to drop.

The grounded boom


The injured man was standing on a beam when the boom knocked him off causing him to fall around two metres or so. The crane is owned by RMS Crane Service in Denver, Colorado.
