Terex AWP sells off non-core lines

Terex Aerial Work Platforms has sold its power buggy and generator product lines in order to focus on Genie aerial lift, telehandler and lighting tower ranges.

The power buggy/mini dumper product line has been sold to Indy Equipment, an equipment dealer based in Independence, Ohio for an undisclosed sum. The power buggy product line consists of two models: 16ft³ (453 litre) and 21ft³ (595 litre) capacities.

Brad Allen, Terex global general manager, scissors, portables and light towers, said: “We made the decision to close the power buggy line in September, 2009 as part of a larger strategy to focus on our core aerial competencies,” said “Indy Equipment is a respected dealer in the industry and is the right fit to sell and market the power buggy product line.”

Parts and warranty support for all units will transfer to Indy Equipment effective February 15, 2010.

At the same time Terex has sold its generator product line to Cummins Power Generation for an undisclosed sum. Terex has been supplying its generators to Cummins for some time under the Cummins badge.

“At this point in time, it makes sense for Terex AWP to focus on our core products - Genie aerial lifts, telehandlers and light towers,” said Allen. “The Terex sale allows Cummins to vertically integrate and manufacture the generators that Terex has been private labelling for them during the past several years.”

Warranty support for Cummins branded generator units will begin immediately. Warranty support for Terex branded units will continue to the end of 2010. Parts support will be supplied by Terex AWP for 180 days from date of sale, at which point Cummins will take over.
