Tim Rowley calls it a day
Tim Rowley retires from Cranesafe, the UK subsidiary of tower crane anti collision company SMIE today.
Rowley pioneered the introduction of remote controls for industrial cranes in the 1970’s and then in 1989 he founded Cranesafe to distribute SMIE anti collision devices for tower cranes. SMIE acquired the business from him in 2002, with him continuing to run the business as managing director.

In 2007 Fabrice Bonassera joined the UK business to support Rowley and now takes over as director of Cranesafe/Smie UK effective tomorrow. Rowley will be retained by SMIE for certain projects.
Rowley said: “When I moved Cranesafe's focus from engineering to construction in 1989 I didn't know exactly what to expect, but I am happy to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with tower cranes and particularly value the relationships built up with so many key people in the industry”
