Bronto Team makes contact

The Bronto Artic Challenge team have made contact after being holed up for two days in bad weather. Heavy snow has halted progress and looks as though it has put an end to the target of reaching the top of Sokosti – the highest peak in the area.

All ok and ready to move again

The bulletin we received is as follows:

“The team is back within reach of a network for a while. Have used our time well carboloading for our way ahead. Temperature is minus 12, light wind and fairly clear with some sunshine. No new snow. Altogether we have had between 30 and 40 cm of new snow, making progress almost impossible for a couple of days. Today we are heading back to Tuiskukuru.”

The going has got very hard indeed

The six man team, includes Ian James and David Walley from Bronto UK, Christoph Pichler and Alexandra Dieterich from Bronto's Italian distributor-Gbr-Pichler and Merja Viilola and Jan Denks of Bronto Finland.

The challenge is to endure an eight day 100km self-supported snow shoe trek 300km north of the polar circle ascending Sokosti, at 718 metres, the highest peak in the UKK National park.

The aim of the challenge is to raise funds and increase awareness of the Alzheimer's Society and its work. In order to learn more about the charity and put up some sponsorship money check out the website: Click here to go direct to the Bronto challenge donation area
