Manlift and Cela join forces

Dubai based Manlift Middle East has formed a ‘Strategic Partnership’ with Italian manufacturer Cela. The two companies plan to launch Cela’s radical DT21 truck‐mounted boom lift unveiled at last year’s SAIE.

Manlift will in effect become a distributor for Cela’s industrial truck mounted range but will not be covering its fire lifts or its spider lifts given that it is the Teupen distributor. The company will offer the D21 for both sale and rental in the region.

The initial focus will be the DT21 which features two telescopic booms an overall height that the falls within the height of the 3.5 tonne Nissan Cabstar cab, yet offers a 14 metre up an over reach with 9.5 metres outreach and has the possibly to reach two metres below ground level – handy for bridge parapets. The 21 is expected to be joined later this year by a 24 metre version that is also expected to appeal in the Middle East market.

Simone Scalabrini of Cela said: “With the slowdown of mainstream construction in the region we now feel that machines that are primarily used for building maintenance offer excellent potential for growth. Our DT 21 machine offers a very compact ‘footprint’ whilst being capable of ‘outreaching’ similar units from our competitors even in the bigger 24 metre category. After only two months of the products launch we already have 83 DT21 orders and we’re targeting 200 units delivered in 2011”
