Cantilever platform for Schiphol

Dutch based Eurosupply has provided a special work platform for maintaining signs over the top of escalators at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.

The brief included the challenge that passenger flows were not to be disrupted at all so the use of a boom lift stand off to the side was not possible.

The platform has a clear cantilever of 2.6 metres

The solution was a rolling access stand with 2.6 metre cantilever platform, the platform is rolled into place alongside the stair well and the platform then extended over the void to reach the sign. The downside of no disruption is that the head room on the platform is just 1.4 metres requiring the service engineer to crawl and sit while working.

The platform allows work to be carried out safely over the top of passengers using the escalators

After a full test programme the platform was checked, inspected and is certified by TÜV as conforming to all relevant directives and safety standards.
