Cargotec’s charity auction

Cargotec, owner of Hiab and Kalmar, is to auction a unique Herman Brood painted Hiab loader crane for charity.

Back in 2000 Cargotec invited the famous Dutch artist Herman Brood to the RAI exhibition to paint one of its Hiab 102 loader cranes. The company is now planning to auction that same crane at this year’s RAI exhibition to support an independent humanitarian organisation called War Child.

Paulo Cardoso, marketing manager for Cargotec Netherlands said: "It is very satisfying that the beautiful pop-art crane is now put back into the spotlight where it belongs. It can provide even more benefits now, a little over ten years after it was painted by Herman Brood. For Cargotec, social responsibility is an important issue and an auction in support of the organisation War Child, is something very positive."

Brood's art is often depicted as expressive with clear influences of pop art of the 1950s and 1960s.

The multi-talented musician, artist and painter Herman Brood died in 2001 at the age of 54. He was a popular cultural personality in the Netherlands and well-known worldwide.

War Child is a charitable organisation that provides life-changing support to the most vulnerable children whose families, communities and schools have been torn apart by war.

The auction will take place at this year’s RAI exhibition 17.00 on Friday the 20th of April on the Cargotec stand.
