First T460 for France

French recycling and lifting company Teil has taken delivery of a 46 metre Ruthmann T 460 truck mounted platform.

The T 460, which was launched at Intermat last year, is mounted on an 18 tonne MAN chassis and offers a 600kg maximum capacity and an outreach of up to 31 metres with reduced platform capacity.

The T 460 has also been fitted with Ruthmann’s latest ‘Lift-Up’ material handling system which, when fitted to the front of the platform, allows for bulky and awkward sized items such as glass panels, signs or advertising hoardings to be lifted safely.

Based in Arpajon-sur-Cère, southern France, Teil was founded in 1958 as a construction company. The lifting sector of its business emerged following a surge in demand after it purchased a crane to assist with its construction work. In the 1980’s the company turned its attention to the recycling market.

Crane01
I am all in favour of innovation within the industry, and this lift-up system seems a good idea, but their seems to be one rule for access platform hirers and another for crane hirers.

Cranes hirers have been told not to provide manbaskets on the end of their cranes under 110 metres unless their is no other means of access
i.e. over 110 metres,(see Ainscough TC2800 lifting manbasket up to damaged tower crane in London)inside shafts, behind buildings etc etc, where an access platform cannot reach.

So why is it, we now have access platforms allowed to act as cranes, to lift goods off the platform,or side of the platform?

I have seen alot of pictures of accidents with platforms, far more than any crane & manbasket!!
