Terex launches new generation reach stackers

Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has launched the Liftace 5-31 reach stacker, the first of its new generation lift trucks. Four models of the new Terex Stackace empty container handler will follow in the spring.

With a wheelbase of 6,200mm the Liftace 5-31 can stack up to five high-cube containers in the first row. In addition to the Liftace-typical 45 tonnes in the first row, the maximum load capacity is 31 tonnes in the second and 15 tonnes in the third row.

Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has launched the Liftace 5-31 reach stacker, the first of its new generation lift trucks.

Power is supplied by the latest Volvo and Cummins EPA Tier 4 final/EU Stage IV engines matched to a Dana TE30 gearbox specifically designed for lift trucks.

Klaus Peter Hoffmann, managing director of TPS said: “The mixture of competitive operating costs, ease of maintenance and convenience at the man/machine interface makes the new machines efficient overall packages. The first example is the newly launched Liftace 5-31 reach stacker.”

Features include a new cab which offers low interior noise level and good visibility with options including reversing sensors and a camera system. TPS says it has particularly focused on lowering operating costs when compared to previous models. The engine and gearbox together with the drive axle, low overall weight and good load distribution results in low tyre wear. Its modern drive train combined with the load-sensitive hydraulic system is said to reduce fuel consumption.

Oliver Küpper, general manager at the Terex facility in Montceau-les-Mines, France, said: “Our customers all over the world are always telling us how important uptime is to them. This is why we have designed the Terex Liftace reach stacker for ease of maintenance and repair. Additionally, when expert assistance is needed, our network of service centers and experienced distributors helps to keep the machine up and operational. Montceau-les-Mines is our new competence center for reach stackers. Besides our modern manufacturing infrastructure, a training center for drivers and service technicians and a spare parts stock are also located here.”

Spare parts will still continue to be available for the existing machines of the two Terex legacy brands PPM und Fantuzzi. In addition, customers will have access to the usual comprehensive product range during the entire transition period: “Our concept now envisages the successive launch of additional new models. We will not take any machine off the market before an adequate successor is ready.”

TPS will launch the first four models of the Terex Stackace empty container handler in the spring using similar technologies.
Hoffmann said: “The Terex Liftace 5-31 reach stacker platform provides a basis for all other developments in the area of Terex lift trucks - in other words for reach stackers, full and empty container handlers and forklifts.”
