First fibre Liebherr

Polish crane rental company Mazur Zurawie has taken delivery of the first Liebherr flat top tower crane equipped with fibre rope.

Ordered at bauma last year, the 10 tonne 240 EC-B 10 Fibre has a maximum jib length of 68 metres with a jib tip capacity of 2,850 kg at 65 metres. It is also the first to be fitted with the company’s high strength fibre rope soLite - see: Liebherr fibre rope.

Developed in collaboration with Austrian rope manufacturer Teufelberger, soLite is 80 percent lighter than conventional steel rope, lasts four times as long and is significantly easier to handle. Liebherr says in future it plans to replace steel cables in various tower crane applications and operation.
