Sarens Siba has opened a new mobile crane rental depot in Brits, South Africa, in order to generate more business from mining companies in the region.
Located in the north west of South Africa, the region is home to more than 20 mines and quarries including two of the world’s largest platinum mines and the largest platinum refinery. The new depot features a large yard, offices, maintenance facilities and a wash bay, and will run All Terrain cranes from 20 to 110 tonnes and Rough Terrains from 25 to 60 tonnes. Sarens’ heavy crane division will also cover the area with All Terrains up to 500 tonnes and crawler cranes up to 600 tonnes.
Covering Brits and the surrounding areas of Rustenburg, Marikana and Bethanie, the new location is aimed at providing better availability, faster deployment and lower costs. It will also offer new opportunities in maintenance and shutdown projects within the area.
Founded in 2017 as a joint venture between Sarens and Siba, the company serves South Africa and neighbouring countries of Nambia, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia from its locations in Brakpan, Sasolburg, Secunda and now Brits. The following is a news video from the press conference at the opening.
