XCMG teams up with Genesis for UK

The aerial lift and telehandler division of Chinese equipment manufacturer XCMG has appointed Genesis Equipment Sales, a new company within the Ballyvesey Holdings group, as its sole distributor for the UK.

The new company will hold a substantial inventory of new XCMG equipment and provide product support from four regional hubs in England – one in the midlands, one in the North one on the east side of London and one in the south west. The two companies will launch their new partnership at Vertikal Days in Peterborough on May 10th, with the first stock units are due to arrive over the next week or two, and a large number of additional units due to arrive over the following months.

Genesis will be overseen by rental and construction industry veteran Mark Kennedy who has worked with Ballyvesey Holdings since 2018 as managing director of Contract Plant Rental, and more recently TDL Equipment, having previously spent seven years with UK rental company LLynch. Genesis will operate as a standalone business but have access to Ballyvesey group resources. The company is in the process of recruiting experienced industry staff and will shortly announce some senior appointments.

XCMG European business development director Hans Aarse said: “Our agreement with Genesis is the outcome of a very challenging period over the past 12 months, as we looked to define our definite route to market in the UK. Several rental companies have tried our products, and provided a very positive response, which a growing number of companies approaching us to do business with them. Which has stressed the need to provide the commercial and technical support levels that the market justifies. We are convinced that Genesis Equipment Sales, being a fully owned subsidiary of Ballyvesey Holdings, will more than achieve that. We will, of course support their activities from our warehouses in The Netherlands where we maintain an average inventory of more than 500 units ready for rapid delivery.”

Privately owned Ballyvesey Holdings owns numerous dealerships in the construction and waste handling equipment markets, including Genie dealer Sleator Plant in Ireland, along with Norwest Plant and TDL Equipment in the UK. Established in 1970, the group has built a diverse business centred around transport, logistics, truck and commercial vehicle distribution, aftersales support, trailer manufacturing and construction equipment sales and rental to name a few, along with property rental and development. Revenues are in the region of £800 million, while the company has is very strong financially.
