Hiab has appointed John Carnall as the new managing director for its UK & Ireland business.
In his new role he will be responsible for the ongoing development of Hiab in both the UK and Ireland, through organic growth as well as strategic acquisitions. He replaces Ian Mitchell who has served as managing director of Hiab UK/Ireland since early 2019, he leaves “to pursue other opportunities”.
Hiab has four wholly owned sales and service locations across the UK - Hiab Scotland in Cumbernauld, Hiab North in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, Hiab West Midlands in Dudley and Hiab Ellesmere in north Shropshire. The Hiab operations are part of the company's network of 25 Authorised Service Centres which provide service and genuine parts across the UK.
Until the start of this year, Carnall was head of global services at fellow Cargotec company MacGregor GBR - a role he carried out for almost eight years. He began his career in the mid-1980s joining Atlas Copco in 1986, initially as a product manager and from 2007 vice president of parts and services as well as marketing for the mining and rock excavation service division. In 2013 he moved to Danfoss Power Solutions as global vice president for the aftermarket business, leaving after two years for MacGregor.
Speaking of his new post at Hiab, he said: “I am delighted to join what is already a hugely successful team and look forward to further developing the relationships we have with our loyal customers who are accustomed to our products, service and innovations. Customers will remain at the heart of our approach as we continue on our journey to become the number one partner for on-road handling solutions.”
