US based rental company Crane Service Inc. has taken an 800 tonne Liebherr LG 1800-1.0 wheeled lattice crane.
The LG 1800-1.0 is aimed squarely at wind turbine installation, and incorporates many of the concepts from its predecessor – the LG1750 - but is mounted on a new nine axle chassis, which allows axle loads of 10 tonnes with all four outrigger beams on board. While it features the same swing out outriggers as the LG 1750, the new crane’s beams are fixed rather than variable making them lighter. If two outrigger beams are removed the total weight drops to 70 tonnes - eight tonnes an axle - or 50 tonnes if both sets are removed.
Ben McKinstry, President of Crane Service said: “We are proud to unveil our latest investment, the state of the art Liebherr LG 1800 lattice boom crane. As the leading name in crane manufacturing worldwide, Liebherr has once again surpassed expectations with this remarkable addition to their lineup.”
“We are excited to bring this innovative technology to the North American market, with a particular focus on the renewable energy sector, including wind projects, these new cranes will enhance our capabilities and efficiency in this rapidly growing market segment.”
Founded in 1960 - Crane service was acquired by ML Holdings in 2007 – based in southwest America, it offers crane rental of All Terrains, Rough Terrains, crawlers, booms and fork lifts. It runs a fleet of more than 80 Liebherr’s from four locations; one in New Mexico and three in Texas.
