We have received the sad news that Snorkel's European spare parts manager Jimmy Waters has died.
He passed away suddenly and without warning on Wednesday, 28th August, from a suspected cardiac arrest, he was 57.
He had worked at the Snorkel plant in the UK for more than 17 years, initially as a production operator, then fairly quickly moved in to the parts area, as a spare parts coordinator, becoming parts manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He joined the company in 2007 from local automotive parts and component supplier Magna Kansei where he was a team leader.
A statement from the company said: “Jimmy was a valued and highly respected employee, admired by his team, peers, and a vast network of contacts within the spare parts industry. Known for his kind heart, great sense of humour, and unwavering zest for life, Jimmy will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
“His passion for his role and dedication to the spares team was matched only by his enthusiasm for life. Jimmy was an avid Sunderland supporter, loved music, golf, horse racing, and cherished his holidays. Jimmy’s death came as a shock to all of us, and our deepest condolences are with his wife Amanda, his family and his friends.”
He leaves behind wife Amanda, extended family and a host of close friends. His funeral was held last Friday with donations in lieu of flowers to the British heart foundation. Mourners were encouraged to wear red and white or bright colours.
We hope to be able to add to this obituary over the coming days.
