Chinese manufacturer Sinoboom held a major international new product and new facility launch day at its base in ChangSha this weekend.
The event on Saturday was attended by more than 150 customers and distributors from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the UK and Ireland.
In total around 20 new models or significant upgrades to existing models were announced, along with two new technological developments.
The new models included:
A 16ft mast type lift the VM05EL or VM16EL in North America, with a working height of 6.9 metres, a platform capacity of 227kg and an overall weight of 970kg. It is 780mm wide, 1.99 metres high when stowed and 1.38 metres long. It features a roll out deck extension and joins the existing VM04EL.
A 34ft Rough Terrain diesel boom lift, the AB10J features a new hydraulic system with high efficiency piston pump which has also been integrated into a number of other boom lifts as part of their upgrades. The new model features a working height of 11.62 metres, an overall width of 1.85 metres and an overall stowed height of 1.99 metres. Platform capacity is 250kg and it has a total weight of just under five tonnes. A one function pure vertical lift function is also standard. The AB10J has standard four wheel drive and oscillating axle. 30 units have already been built with a good number of them going to Australia.
A new 27ft No Oil slab electric scissor lift, the 0808E ALL, /2732 ALL in North America, with AC wheel motor drive, a new platform overload system, a heavier duty lift mechanism and electric actuator lift and steer cylinders. The unit has been designed for the wider market, rather than targeted at niche clean room applications.
A new 27 metre spider lift, the SPA 27J with 230kg platform capacity, 360 degree continuous slew, an overall width of 895mm, overall length of 4.75 metres with basket removed and is under two metres when stowed. It has an unusual lift mechanism with a heavy duty four section lower boom, lighter weight three section top boom and articulated jib. Total weight is 3,800kg.
A new 137ft battery powered telescopic boom lift, the TB42RJ Plus HD with X type chassis, four wheel drive, four wheel steer and the ability to be transported in a standard shipping container. It also features a rotating articulated jib and is also available as a diesel model. A slightly smaller 129ft version, the TB38RT Plus HD is also available with most of the same componentry and structure.
A first prototype of the six metre/2,500kg compact telehandler can take 2,000kg to its 5.8 metre lift height and manage 800kg at the maximum 3.36 metre forward reach. It is expected to reach production by June next year. The company is targeting North America, Australia, the EU, UK and Turkey, although it hopes to develop a wider geographic market for its telehandler products.
Another new product and strategy are truck mounted lifts, the company has been producing them for the regional market for some time, but hopes to find a wider market for its new Hybrid models, starting out with the 31.5 metre GKS32L which features a six section telescopic boom and pedestal mounted platform. It is mounted on a small 3.5 tonne type chassis but has a Gross Vehicle Weight of just under 4.5 tonnes, and offers an outreach of 14.8 metres, a 28 metre unit has also been produced with a five section boom. The company is looking to ship the superstructures for mounting locally.
Upgraded models include:
Four articulated booms, the 50ft AB15J, 360 continuous slew and active axle oscillation along with the 52ft AAB16EJ, the 73ft AB22J Plus with Electric or Diesel power, four wheel drive and steer, and triple platform capacity - 250kg, 340kg and 454kg. Finally the 66ft AB26EJ Plus with a 25.6 metre work height and new rotating jib, with a 19 metre outreach and dual capacity of 250kg and 340kg. It is also available as an Electric or Diesel power unit all with the new piston pump hydraulic system. Two upgraded slab electric micro scissor lifts, the 14ft 0407EN and 16ft 0607EN, with larger tyres for improved travel performance and a slightly wider scissor stack
An upgrade to its 43ft and 53ft Rough Terrain scissors - both diesel and Electric - which are now 500kg lighter with improved travel performance and greater efficiency.
New Tech
The new tech included a skid steer 'turn on the spot' option for electric 4x4 boom lifts which it has dubbed ‘Tank Turn’. Essentially it allows the electric wheel motors on each axle to counter rotate. The demonstration of it in action was impressive - you would want non-marking of course and tyre wear would be an issue if used too often, but it could be very effective when in a tight squeeze.
Finally the ‘Panoramic Camera’ system uses strategically placed cameras on the chassis and superstructure to provide the operator of a large boom lift with a clear view of the ground, including the terrain and any obstacles, that might not be easily visible from 30 metres or so.
The new and upgraded models will be on display at Bauma China, which opens on Tuesday. We will follow up with more detail on each of the new products over the coming weeks.
