Hydraulic and electronic systems and component manufacturer Danfoss has promoted its chief financial officer Daniel Winter to president, succeeding Eric Alström who has held the position for the past 12 years. According to Danfoss, Eric Alström is leaving to ‘seek new challenges outside the company’ having joined the Cargotec board in June. The change over becomes effective from the start of the new year.
Winter has been with Danfoss for more than 10 years, having joined Sauer-Danfoss in 2013 as senior vice president finance and controller, taking the title head of finance functions for Danfoss in 2017 and chief financial officer of Danfoss Power Solutions in 2020.
He began his career in 2001 with Siemens VDO Automotive, starting in corporate control and special projects, moving up through the ranks, unit 2006 when he was promoted to chief financial officer of the Siemens VDO joint venture in Wuhu, China. In 2008 he moved to Shanghai based automotive supplier Continental as chief financial officer of its BU Fuel Supply Systems operation. He left after 18 months for Benteler Automotive, where he was appointed chief financial officer - Asia Pacific, leaving in mid 2013 for Sauer-Danfoss.
Winter said: “I’m excited to build on our strong foundation, great products and solutions, excellent customer relationships, and a fantastic and talented team with a history of delivering great results. While the market presents challenges, we’re prepared to navigate them and take Power Solutions to the next level.”
Alström added: “Danfoss has transformed tremendously since I joined 12 years ago, especially in the last five years. Merging the Eaton Hydraulics and Power Solutions team has been the highlight of my career. Many former Eaton colleagues said it felt like coming home, making the integration much smoother, while the rest of us felt the same way. Together, we have solidified our role as a leader in hydraulics, which remains core to Danfoss. Danfoss is a very special company, and I will always value our clear purpose, long term strategic vision, strong DNA and culture.”
