South African rental company T3 Projects has taken delivery of three new Liebherr mobile cranes, two Rough Terrains - a 100 tonne LRT 1100-2.1 and 130 tonne LRT 1130-2.1 along with a 300 tonne LTM 1300-6.3 All Terrain, which becomes the fleet 'flagship'.
The LRT 1100-2.1 is equipped with 50 metre five section main booms, topped by 10.5 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extensions with up to 40 degrees of offset for a maximum tip height of just over 72 metres. Liebherr’s VarioBase automatically variable outrigger set up and tilting cab are standard.
The two axle LRT 1130-2.1 features a seven section 60 metre main boom, which is said to be the longest on any two axle Rough Terrain crane. It is topped with a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with offsets of up to 40 degrees and can be extended with a seven metre insert for a maximum tip height to around 88 metres. A 2.9 metre assembly jib can be stowed on the left side of the boom.
The six axle LTM 1300-6.3 features an eight section, 90 metre main boom topped by an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension to which two seven metre inserts can be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a tip height of 121 metres. Alternatively, a 43 metre lattice extension takes the tip height to 126 metres.
Managing director Richard van den Barg said: “The new cranes represent a significant expansion of our current fleet and deliver unprecedented opportunities for high capacity hoisting work that our current equipment cannot handle. We will use the cranes for loading heavy materials, erecting structures and carrying out high precision hoisting work.”
Operations director Donovan Carroll added: “LRT Rough Terrain cranes are known for their advanced safety systems, which helps us to achieve our goal of maximising safety on all projects. At the same time, their simple operation ensures additional safety and increases efficiency. The cranes are easy to transport and set up, which saves a considerable amount of time and resources on sites.”
