PSM Rent was established in 2019 as the rental division of the PSM group, which itself was founded in 1996 to design, install and maintain low to medium voltage electrical installations, including factory installations and other electrical related work.

The group is based in Ploiești on the north side of Bucharest, as a result the rental division has largely focused on Southern Romania. Its fleet of around 150 scissors, mast booms and regular boom lifts up to working heights of 21 metres, many of them from Genie. The fleet also includes a few forklifts, generators and lighting towers. In 2024 the division is said to have generated revenues of around €500,000, which was expected to double this year.

The company has been a customer of Mateco Romania’s sales division for some time, and the two companies have signed an ongoing supply /collaboration agreement which will see Mateco set up a new branch close to PSM’s facility in Ploiești. The addition extends the company’s coverage in the country to eight locations - Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara, Brasov, Craiova, Iasi, Constanta, Ploiesti, Oradea, Sibiu and Galati with a fleet approaching 5,000 units.

Radu Bogdan Nițu of PSM Rent added: “This partnership with Mateco allows PSM group to strengthen its position in the electrical installation and industrial relocation sector, while ensuring our clients continue to benefit from modern equipment, high quality services, and top level support from Mateco Romania.”

Mateco’s director of Eastern Europe Anthony Pille said: “This transaction strengthens our local presence and reflects Mateco’s long term commitment to building a strong, service oriented network across Central and Eastern Europe. By joining forces with a company that shares our values, we can serve customers faster and deliver high quality equipment and services exactly where and when they need them.”

Mateco Romania was set up in 2005, while the Mateco group as a whole, which was originally German based and dated from 1973, now runs around 45,000 aerial lifts and telehandlers across 15 countries in Europe and South America.
