Loader crane and truck mounted lift manufacturer Palfinger has opened a 'Global Development Centre' in Pune, India in in partnership with L&T Technology Services, with the aim of expanding its engineering capacity and increasing its activities in Asia.
The agreement signed earlier this week in Pune has L&T operating the new facility with 20 engineers, to support both local and worldwide development projects, working in concert with Palfinger’s technology centre in Köstendorf, Austria.
Attending the inauguration from Palfinger were chief operating officer Alexander Susanek, Andreas Hille senior vice president of global product management & R&D and Santhosh Rao vice president for the Asia Pacific region. L&T attendees included: chief operating officer Mritunjay Singh, along with Oliver Moron, vice president Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Mohideen Farouk, EU sales director, and divisional heads Jayant Joshi, Tejas Shah and Sachin Nikam.

Palfinger says that this move is part of a wider plan to expand its local distribution/partner network, while it is also considering setting up a local production facility in the region.
Palfinger chief operating officer Alexander Susanek added: “Partnering with LTTS will significantly expand our engineering capacity in a key market. This investment is a direct expression of Reach Higher and our Strategy 2030 Plus, strengthening our presence in strategically important regions.”

L&T technology services executive director Alind Saxena said: “Palfinger has an ambitious strategy for the future, and we are proud to support their journey with our engineering expertise in AI-led digital transformation. The new centre will serve as a strategic hub bringing together AI-powered simulation and embedded engineering to help Palfinger build future ready solutions while achieving faster development and improved cost competitiveness.”
