JCB is investing £100 million in a major upgrade to one of its facilities at its manufacturing plant and headquarters in Rochester, Staffordshire, in the English Midlands.
The project includes an investment of £60 million in a new fully automated powder paint plant, along with the modernisation of the telehandler and loader backhoe assembly lines. Other upgrades include new machining centres, friction welders and cylinder boring machines.

The company recently celebrated its 80th anniversary, on the same day as chairman Anthony Bamford's birthday - the 23rd of October.
Bamford said: “Investing in the UK plant makes good business sense. The work ethic remains strong - especially in the Midlands, with its deep engineering heritage. The £100 million we are investing now will put us at the forefront of our industry. We are also expanding overseas, not least in America, where we have been operating for decades. But the UK is our home. We directly employ more than 19,000 people around the world, more than 8,000 of them in the UK.”
