Active Access liquidation
The liquidation of Scottish access rental company Active Access is now underway following the appointment last month of Interim liquidator, Middlebrooks. All creditors should by now have received a letter asking them to file any claim they might have and to register as a creditor. A meeting will then be called to elect a permanent liquidator.
The company, based in Bellshill, near Glasgow, was founded by Andrew McCusker in 2003 as Active Rentals and changed its name to Active Access in 2011. In 2016, McCusker suffered a serious heart episode, one of those ‘light bulb moments’ and took the decision to reshape his life. This led to the sale of the company to local businessman Seref Zengin, see
Active sold.
The company has added a good number of new machines since then, and on the surface appeared to be doing well, but reports of unpaid bills had been growing during the last year, and were joined by two County Court Judgements, and finally a winding-up petition on December 4th.
According to the July 2024 accounts, the company had assets of around £6.1 million, with £3.5 million of liabilities – for a Tangible Net Worth of £2.6 million, but a negative working capital of £824,558 compared to £113,559 a year earlier.
Zengin has a number of other companies that are indirectly linked to Active, including Foxdale (Platform & Plant), which dates from 2007, and does not appear to be trading, along with ZLG (UK) Ltd, which was also registered in 2007 and does appear to have been trading. It has a tangible net worth of £700,000 according to its 2024 accounts and £375,000 of working capital.
We have contacted Seref Zengin for a comment and will publish it here when we receive it.
