27m spider lift for Sinoboom

Sinoboom has launched a 27 metre spider lift, available as the diesel powered SPA27J or battery powered SPA27EJ.

The SPA27Js feature a three section telescopic riser/ lower boom which elevates almost to the vertical, topped by a three section upper boom and an articulating jib for a maximum working height of 27 metres. The maximum outreach of 14.5 metres is available at an up & over height of 13.5 metres with 120kg in the basket, or just over 12 metres with the maximum platform capacity of 230kg, both with the wider outrigger width of 4.7 metres.

Outreach with the 2.97 narrow footprint is 11 and nine metres respectively. The unit can level on slopes of up to 10 degrees with up to 500mm of outrigger lift.

The overall stowed length is 5.8 metres, or 4.95 metres with the 1.4 metre by 800mm platform removed. The overall width is 900mm, extending out and down to a 1.14 metres width for additional stability when travelling on site. The overall height is 1.99 metres, rising to 2.11 metres when the tracks are extended. Total weight is 3.9 tonnes for the diesel model and 4.5 tonnes for the SPA27EJ.

Other features include 360 degree continuous slew, a full 180 degrees of platform rotation, standard non marking rubber tracks, an intuitive graphical user interface, real-time status and fault diagnosis, and one click travelling and stowing functions. The company says that many of the components are common with Sinoboom self-propelled boom lifts.

The SPA27J is powered by a three cylinder Kubota diesel for outdoor use, but also comes with an AC motor, allowing it to be powered from a standard household power supply when working indoors. The battery powered SPA27EJ is equipped with a 15.3kWh lithium battery and can be charged from a standard 230V supply.

The statement says that these new spider lifts are available to order in all countries except the USA, mainland Europe and Australia. Yet the specification sheet states that they are CE compliant.

Product manager Hyman Yu said: “The SPA27EJ and SPA27J have been developed to meet the specific needs of customers, who require agile and versatile access options for complex spaces such as shopping malls, transport hubs and construction sites. This machine represents a reliable and easily manoeuvrable solution for multiple scenarios.”

Vertikal Comment

This looks like a handy enough machine and surely benefits from the experience gained from Sinoboom’s deal with Falcon, the Danish company that introduced the very first spider lift, which went into administration two years later.

What is nice is the fact that the lower boom almost elevates to almost 90 degrees, allowing the maximum outreach to be maintained, regardless of up & over height, it does drop off a little, but only very little. Some spider lifts or self-propelled articulated boom lifts see their outreach drop significantly the more the riser is extended.

This is becoming a crowded market now, but what Sinoboom might be able to do is generate more interest in spider lifts in markets such as the Middle East, Asia and South America.
