Boom lift lifting

A reader in Malta spotted a man using a boom lift as a form of telehandler while remaining as part of the load.

Using a lift in the wrong way

It looks as though he is lifting a bundle of scaffold boards for the façade scaffold to the right of the photo. As if it was not bad enough to use a boom lift as a material lift our man is obliged to stand on the mid-rail to reach over the bundle of boards to reach the controls and perhaps to hold the boards in place.

A closer look shows how the man is holding the load onto the platform

There is little sign of any harness or lanyard, and needless to say this is both dangerous for him and dangerous for anyone that might just be passing underneath. Hopefully someone will see this and make sure that this technique does not become the norm for scaffold erection in Malta.

A most definite Death Wish
