Richard Miller joins Star

Richard Miller has joined recently launched UK rental company Star Platforms as joint managing director.

Miller has 24 years’ experience in the powered access industry starting with Instant Zip –Up in 1991. And founding Panther Work Platforms with Brian Fleckney in 1998. The two sold the business to Lavendon in 2006, and Miller stayed with the business undertaking various roles within the group including managing director of Panther and sales & marketing director of Nationwide Platforms. He was a member of the UK executive board until leaving the company in October 2013 for personal reasons.

Miller was also a founder of the Access Link association of regionally owned powered access rental companies. After a full year ‘out’ of the industry he has now returned to join the old Panther management team of Steve Simmons - joint managing director - and sales director Bryan Freeman at Star Platforms.

Simmons said: “It is great to welcome Richard’s complementary skills and wealth of experience to the company to support the growth strategy of Star Platforms”.

Miller added: “After a very successful and enjoyable time with Lavendon I needed some time out to recharge my batteries and during this time I realised I missed the industry I enjoy so much”.

“Having considered several offers available to me I feel ready for a new challenge, and have decided on a return with a relatively new company where the business and its management team share the same customer-led values as myself. Star Platforms ticks that box and I’m really looking forward to the opportunity this provides me”
