Twin Gottwald's for Chile

Chilean maritime company Terminal Puerto Arica (TPA) has ordered two 125 tonne Konecranes /Gottwald ESP.10 mobile harbour cranes - the manufacturer's largest model.

The cranes include a 10 metre tower extension to handle the nine container high 22 row stacks on Super Post Panamax vessels, and feature a maximum radius of 64 metres, and can handle its 125 tonnes maximum capacity at a radius of 30 metres. Or take 100 tonnes to 36 metres. The operator's cab on these two cranes will be set at the maximum 43 metre height. Two ESP.10's in operation

TPA chief executive Camilo Jobet said: “Our investment strategy has always focused on increasing our ability to serve larger vessels, while maintaining flexibility across different cargo types. Konecranes equipment has proven to be reliable over the years. The company’s technical expertise is key in helping us to select the optimal configuration for our next phase of growth.”

Based in Northern Chile, on the Peruvian border, the port of Arica supplies container and cargo trade throughout northern Chile, Peru and Bolivia. The port added its first Konecrane units 20 years ago with two Generation 4 Konecranes/ Gottwald mobile harbour cranes, followed by a Generation 5 unit 10 years after.
