German hoist manufacturer Geda has supplied a two tonne Geda 1500 Z/ZP transport platform with 100 metre lift height for restoration of St. Martin's Church tower in Arlon, Belgium.
The Geda 1500 Z/ZP on site
The neo-Gothic church - constructed between 1907 and 1914 - is undergoing tower renovation involving partial demolition, stone refurbishment and reconstruction according to conservation guidelines. Belgian contractor Galère operates the lift for scaffolding assembly, material transport and personnel access during the four year project.
The BS platform variant offers 3.3 x 1.45 metre platform size with a 2,000kg or seven person capacity. Six Geda Comfort floor safety doors are included in the installation. The platform also features Geda's two mast system with UNI-X mast technology, enabling anchoring distances up to 12 metres with the system anchored exclusively to scaffolding as drilling or screw connections to the listed building were prohibited.
Scaffolding contractor Alphascaff is also using a Geda 200 Z Comfort for construction work, with two additional units of this type scheduled for installation in coming weeks.
St. Martin's Church is located in Arlon, one of Belgium's oldest cities, and is considered one of the most significant neo-Gothic examples in the Wallonia region.
